Ted Shreds 5th Annual Beach Cruiser Bike Race!

It’s that time of year again! Ted Shred’s is seeking participants to loosen their legs and oil up their chains for the Fifth Annual Beach Cruiser Bike Race. The race returns to Sandy Hook National Park on Saturday, May 7th at 10 am.  In an effort to raise awareness and help stop the ever-growing threat of ocean pollution, 100% of this year’s ticket sales will again be donated to Clean Ocean Action.
Hosted by Ted Shred’s (the company that produces those irresistible surf wax scented candles and air fresheners), the 7K bike race will cover a 5-mile route through Sandy Hook National Park and some of the best surf breaks in the Northeast. The top three finishers, separated by geared and non-geared classes, will compete for a shiny new beach cruiser donated by The Peddler in West Long Branch. There will also be a “coolest cruiser” contest to see who’s cruising the coolest bike.  Tons of additional prizes will be given out, including Billabong gift cards, Ted Shred’s giveaways, and more!
Immediately following the race; participants, friends, and family are all invited to round out the day for an after-party and awards ceremony at Windansea’s outside tiki-bar on
Shrewsbury Ave
in Highlands, NJ. The party will feature live reggae music, drink specials and delicious “FREE” food from Windansea, Surf Taco, and Jr’s.
If you don’t have a beach cruiser, no worries! The race is open to all ages and is designed for everyone and anyone on any style bike. Ted Shred’s and the Sandy Hook National Park System require all riders to stay to the right of the roadway, and children under the age of 17 must wear a helmet.
"The Bike Race has been my favorite day of the year ever since we started it back in '06," notes Ted Shred’s CEO Edward Hennessey. "To see our hometown come together to help out for a great cause is an incredible experience. We feel truly honored to again partner with Clean Ocean Action, an incredible organization. Not only does the race support COA, but it increases the awareness of who we are as a company and what the race represents to us.  Each year the race has generated more riders, volunteers, support, and community involvement.”
