50+ NJ Towns Applauded for Addressing Plastic Pollution

On Tuesday, May 7 environmentalists, elected officials, and citizens gathered to celebrate the 50+ New Jersey towns that have passed ordinances to ban certain single-use plastic items such as straws, bags, polystyrene and balloons. While the benefits are many, the wasteful use of plastics, particularly for single-use items, has become a plague and is an ecosystem crisis. These products never completely go away – they can last for generations long after their single use. These 50+ towns have taken the first strides in the fight against plastic pollution. COA urges more municipalities to take action to reduce plastics and litter for a better future for our wildlife, communities and waterways.
