Fourth Year of SEAL Kicks Off Welcoming a Record Number of Students

At the end of October, Clean Ocean Action kicked off the fourth year of our Student Environmental Advocates and Leaders (SEAL) Program with beachside orientations. This unique high school leadership program offers students the opportunity to work alongside other like-minded peers to make positive environmental change in their communities. This SEAL year is a little different as COA has decided to pilot a "dual SEAL program." Due to unanimous popular demand from nearly all students from last year’s SEAL class, COA is offering a “Second Years” program, providing 20 returning students the opportunity to continue enhancing their leadership skills and taking civic engagement to the next level! This is, of course, in addition to a record number 30 “First-Year” SEALs. Meeting at COA's office twice a month, the students develop and enhance their leadership and advocacy skills through thought-provoking discussions, educational field trips, and engaging with various guest speakers in the environmental field. While participants are from different high schools across Monmouth County, they are bonded by a shared passion for environmental protection! Together, they will make effective and positive change in their communities to begin the ripple effect of environmental advocacy.

Ready to welcome first year SEALS to the office.
