COA staff members (center) take the SEALS to the NJ State House Annex to learn about civics. |
November is a key month for exercising and educating about civics! On November 2, the SEAL students heard from the League of Women Voters about the relevance of New Jersey’s 2023 elections and why it is so important for all residents to exercise their 15th Amendment rights. Post-election, Clean Ocean Action followed up this lesson in advocacy by taking the SEALs on a guided tour of the NJ State House Annex. Providing the students with insight on how change is made from the ground up gives them the tools needed to plan their SEAL projects to begin making changes in their communities. Stay tuned as they continue their journeys into environmental advocacy and leadership!
