Plastic Bag Fee Update

The New Jersey State Legislature passed a plastic bag bill (A3267/S2600), but it only sets a 5-cent fee on all single-use plastic and paper bags throughout the Garden State.  We are urging Governor Murphy to veto and fix it with actions that will truly make a difference.  They include:

•       Phasing-out and banning bags by 2020-2021
•       Protecting towns that want or have strong laws
•       Charging 10-cent fee on all other bags
•       Dedicate the generated funds to help reduce litter
        and lead in drinking water
•       Requiring enforcement of and education about the law

Call Governor Murphy at 609-292-6000 and urge him to veto and fix A3267/S2600.
