Welcome, Sierra Byrne!
COA’s newest intern, Sierra Byrne, has a passion for the ocean that runs deep! As a student at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology, she served as the Beach Sweeps Student Coordinator on Sandy Hook while conducting microplastics research during her senior year. Sierra returned to COA this summer as Marine Debris Intern, where she assists with the Corporate Beach Sweeps Program by providing educational activities for volunteers and compiling data while also helping with preparation for the Fall Beach Sweeps. Sierra is a rising sophomore at the University of California San Diego, where she is pursuing a degree in Ocean and Atmospheric Science.
