The 40th Anniversary Celebration on September 28th, held at the scenic AP Rooftop in Asbury Park, NJ, was a spectacular success! True to COA tradition, the evening’s weather was blustery, with the ocean kicking-up the surf! The sold-out crowd of 220 dedicated “true-blue” supporters gathered to celebrate four decades of ocean advocacy and honor COA Founding True-Blue honorees. The view of the rolling Atlantic set the perfect stage at Tim & Beth McLoone’s newest, beautifully designed seaside restaurant. Guests savored an exquisite selection from the chef, complemented by the iconic Lusty Lobster Raw Bar, and enjoyed the soulful sounds of The Stringbean Trio. Nostalgia filled the air with pictures showcasing four decades of COA’s achievements, and vintage COA t-shirts featured in the silent auction. One of the evening's most moving moments was the heartfelt recognition of our Founding True Blue Honorees: Tim & Beth McLoone, The Douty & Lusty Lobster Family, Trudy & Charlie Parton, and Mary-Beth & Scott Thompson and Family. Each honoree shared their connection to our deep blue sea and personal stories from their four-decade journey with COA. The “ocean of emotion” that poured from these stories reminded everyone why protecting our seas remains essential.

Together, we have transformed our region’s ocean from one of the most polluted in the nation into a vibrant marine ecosystem and a top coastal destination. This milestone year was a chance to reflect on our collaborative accomplishments and to reinvigorate our dedication to COA’s mission. While we celebrate these successes, our work is far from complete. The ride to safeguard our oceans continues, indeed it must--but only with you aboard!
