Comments Submitted Urging the NJDEP to Deny All Permits for the Northeast Supply Enhancement Project

On May 2, the comment period for the pending permit before the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection closed. COA and a coalition of environmental organizations rallied together outside the NJDEP office in Trenton to express our strong opposition to this attack on the Raritan Bay. Following the rally COA delivered over 10,000 comments in opposition to the department.
COA organized a meeting with Gov. Murphy's staff about NESE in Trenton on May 23. Pictured here from left to right: Peter Blair (COA Policy Attorney), Dan Adler (Citizen from Leonardo), Junior Romero (Regional Organizer for Food and Water Watch), Cindy Zipf (COA Executive Director), Kin Gee (Co-President of Residents Against Giant Electric), Yaseen Zaky (Student at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology), and Michele Langa (Staff Attorney with NY/NJ Baykeeper).
COA submitted formal comments opposing the project, citing the legal authority the NJDEP has over the project and the various standards the proposal would violate which were created to protect our natural environment, communities, and wildlife. A copy of our formal comments can be found on COA's homepage
