Lose Over 60,000lbs in 2 days!

It's springtime, which means many of us are focusing on losing a few of those unwanted "extra pounds" in time for summer and beach fun.

Around our offices, we know just how to do it too!

Participate in Clean Ocean Action’s 26th Annual Beach Sweeps on April 30th  and help NJ "lose" about 60,000 lbs!

The Beach Sweeps is much more than picking up trash; it’s about collecting data.  Each Beach Sweep volunteer is instructed to record each piece of debris found during the Beach Sweeps. While challenging, it is essential to the success of the program.  It ensures that the volunteers’ good work becomes a legacy of information to help reduce litter.  The data is compiled into an annual report that highlights and documents the magnitude and extent of marine debris.

COA is gearing up to release the 2010 Beach Sweep Annual Report!    The report provides evidence to reduce litter, serves to educate the public and drives efforts to combat marine pollution.  All Beach Sweep Annual Reports are posted on http://www.cleanoceanaction.org/ (the 2010 report will be posted upon release).

Reminder ~ Groups of 10 or more should PRE-REGISTER by Friday April 8th!
Pre-Registrations ensure that there will be enough supplies at your chosen site!  COA strongly urges groups of 10 or more to preregister through the following link http://www.cleanoceanaction.org/index.php?id=aboutbeachsweeps#c1036.  If you are participating individually or within a smaller group you can simply show up at your chosen site.  When arriving at your site (complete list of over 65 sites available online), please register with the site’s “Beach Captain,” who will direct you during the cleanup.
