The Beaches are Cleaner--THANKS you YOU!

Clean Ocean Action would like to thank everyone that turned out for the 26th Annual Beach Sweeps!  A special thank you to the incredible volunteer Beach Captains that led each of the 70 Beach Sweep site locations.  Volunteers are the ones who make the program possible, and we honor your dedication and commitment for a clean ocean.  Once again, through our diligent work together we generated immeasurable waves of interest for this statewide grass roots movement, and we hope you take a moment to enjoy your accomplishments on behalf of the ocean.

Thank you!

Not only are New Jersey’s beaches cleaner, but also thanks to your efforts COA continues the legacy of evidence to document the pollution problems in the state. As each volunteer is instructed to record each and every piece of data collected, the spring and fall data are compiled into an annual report.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the 2010 Annual Beach Sweep Report, please do so here.

COA uses these reports to educate the public about what is washing up on our beaches, as well as to advocate for pollution prevention initiatives and policies.

We would also like to report that the Beach Sweep social networking efforts were astounding!   We asked. You answered.  Thanks to everyone who took the time to connect with COA via photo messages, Facebook, and Twitter, we were able to share Beach Sweep photos and stories in real time with a vast audience.  Through our Facebook status updates and tweets, your stories and photos are part of the Beach Sweep legacy as well as an inspiration for countless new ocean stewards.

If you haven’t already, please be sure to upload your Beach Sweep stories and photos on our Facebook page .

Please remember to Save the Date ~
