What are you doing for the C.O.A.S.T?

Welcome to a new C.O.A.S.T. season!

As a refresher: The Clean Ocean Action Shore Tips (COAST) campaign is held every summer to raise awareness of ocean pollution issues along the New Jersey shore. Interactive information tables are set up on beaches and beach clubs in Monmouth and Ocean counties every weekend from July to mid-August. In addition to our usual beach sites, we will host tables at the Asbury Park Film Initiative Beach Screening Series every Thursday in July and August. These tables will be staffed by COA volunteers, new and old! Our volunteers use this time to contribute to the effort to clean our oceans, as well as learn about current environmental issues.

The 22nd annual C.O.A.S.T. campaign hopes to raise awareness and support for the Clean Ocean Zone Bill. The mid-Atlantic coast is currently being bombarded by seismic exploration and proposals to open our shores for industrial drilling. Now more than ever, it is important to support the Clean Ocean Zone to lock in protection from oil and gas drilling and pollution. We hope to see lots of COA volunteers and supporters on the beaches this summer! Together we can achieve a cleaner ocean!

COA will host two Volunteer Information Sessions in June (see dates below) for new and seasoned C.O.A.S.T. volunteers. At these evening gatherings, pizza will be served while our volunteers get to know each other and learn about this year’s campaign.
