COA welcomes Gianna Fischer to the team as the Dery Bennett Fellow for Ocean Advocacy. Gianna joined the crew in August and works to link advocacy, law, and science into coordinated successful campaigns and engage coalition partners in advancing local, state and federal ocean protection public policies. Gianna graduated this summer, one year early from Boston University (BU) College of Communication with a BS in Public Relations and a minor in Political Science on a Pre-Law Track. In Gianna’s short career, she has already worked as the Marketing Assistant at the BU School of Law, Communications Assistant with the BU Alumni Association, Public Relations Intern for Mintz Levin in Boston, and as a Market Research Intern for Edelman Berland in NYC. Gianna is no stranger to COA, she joined COA as a high school intern in 2013, after SuperStorm Sandy, was a Summer Intern in 2014, and again in 2015 as COA’s Policy Intern. In addition, Gianna was President of the Delta Chapter of Sigma Kappa and Editor-in-Chief of the BU Buzz Magazine, both at BU. Wow! Gianna is outstanding and we are thrilled to have her join the crew as the 2nd DW Bennett Fellow, which continues the legacy Dery started
