NJ Legislators and Environmentalists Unify for Ocean and Environment

Clean Ocean Action Executive Director Cindy Zipf proudly joined Congressman Frank Pallone, U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker, and environmental leaders at a press conference on November 22nd to call on President Obama to permanently ban offshore drilling in the Atlantic Ocean. “We are fearful and we are saying, very dramatically, that we want the environment protected. We depend on a clean ocean, clean air, and a clean environment for a living,” said Congressman Pallone.

In addition to presenting a call to action for President Obama to ban offshore drilling, speakers came together to express concern about President-elect Trump’s environmental agenda. Attending were
American Littoral Society, Sierra Club, NY/NJ Baykeeper, Environment New Jersey, Edison Wetlands, NJ League of Conservation Voters, Jersey Coast Anglers Alliance, and NJ Conservation Foundation.

“We’re calling on Donald Trump to do no harm,” said Cindy Zipf. In addition, Clean Ocean Action announced its plan to create a Trump Ocean Watch, a web-based resource that will track the Trump
Administration’s ocean development plan and provide concerned citizens with up-to-date information regarding the proposals and potential threats that may accompany them. Gianna Fischer, DW Bennett Fellow for Ocean Policy
