COA’s Rally for the Bay Underway in Ocean County!

COA has been serving on the Barnegat Bay Partnership’s Advisory Committee (AC) and Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) for many years.  The many threats and changing ecosystem of the Bay include impacts from sea level rise and climate change.  COA’s Staff
Scientist Dr. Swarna Muthukrishnan attended the meetings.

US Army Corps of Engineers shared updates on Barnegat Bay’s participation in the nationwide pilot program for the beneficial use of dredged material. The Partnership also provided an update on the ongoing real-time and continuous water quality monitoring in three stations in the Bay – Beach Haven, Mantoloking and Seaside Heights.  The study is being conducted in collaboration with NJDEP and the data is available at http://njdep.rutgers.edu/continuous/.

COA’s active participation in the Partnership will be immensely useful in understanding local pollution issues as we gear-up the "Rally for the Bay" program to track down and eliminate pollution from human sanitary sources in the Toms River watershed under the NJDEP 2018 Water Quality Restoration Grant.
