Who's in your top 5?

We can all be philanthropists. It doesn’t matter how much money you give.  The thing that makes philanthropy different from spontaneous giving is the intentionality.  Do you give with a purpose?

If you or your family plans to set aside $100 per month (if you have more to set aside, just add zeros to this example), you will have $1,200 to give away to organizations you feel are making the world a better place. So, who do you give to?

You might start by making a list – of causes, of organizations – just make a list. Then talk with your spouse, your partner, your children, your dog, about the organizations you think are doing a good job.  Take a night and do some research online.

  • Do you like organizations with celebrities?
  • Do you like global issues like the rainforest?
  • Do you like organizations that protect and defend the waters you swim and play in all summer along the New York and Jersey Shores
  • What matters to you most?
Now pick your top 5.

We think Clean Ocean Action will be in that top 5!  We'd also like to hear who's sharing our company.    Please post your list here (click on the word “comments” below).
