Monmouth Beach Environmental Commission at the May 22, 2018 Plastic Ban Hearing
On May 22, 2018, Monmouth Beach passed the most comprehensive plastic ban in the nation! Bags, straws and containers are banned starting on June 1st! Below is a list of other plastic ban initiatives taking place across New Jersey:

Fees or Bans
Monmouth Beach: Plastic Bag Ban effective June 2018
Teaneck: 5 cents Plastic Bag Fee – also urges state to pass
statewide law. Initiated by local Girl Scout Troop. Took two years effective July 2018
Longport: 10 cents Paper and Plastic fee went into effect
December 2015
Long Beach: Plastic Bag Ban Fee for paper effective May 2018
Ventnor: 5 cents fee effective October 2018. Also, Mary Wilding of the Long Beach Island Garden Club is helping to lead an island wide initiative against single use plastics.    

Pending:
Stafford Township: on hold
Point Pleasant Beach: Final vote May 15
